This self portrait was taken at a fairly advanced stage, although Elliott can still be seen to be questioning the idea of a hovering halo. In the end he decided this two colour, abstract light painting was too chaotic to match the beautiful order of the rest of the piece. So eventually this evolved into the halo. This image shows the model for the masterpiece, Elizabeth Caron, muse of 8 years at the time. Elliott moved home during creation of his masterpiece and had to sustain the upkeep of his existing studio for over two months, at not inconsiderable expense, to complete the photograph. |
